Jenilee’s Boutique Funding Letter

Posted on: December 11, 2011

Note: This is an assignment for a Technical Writing course taken at The University of Texas at San Antonio in the Fall 2011 semester.

The funding letter is made to introduce the abbreviated business plan to an investor because it gives an overview of what the investor may expect to see in the plan.  The letter also provides all contact information from the business, Jenilee’s Boutique, and the investor, Guerra Investors.  To see the actual image of the letter, a link is provided at the end.

Dear Mr. Guerra:

Jenilee’s Boutique is a unique retail business that specializes in quality handmade jewelry, crochet clothing and garments, and seasonal items.  There is a market need for the boutique in San Antonio, Texas because large retail stores do not offer quality handmade products because their products are manufactured in bulk to meet quantity goals instead of quality goals.  Customers will also have a wide variety of selections and styles to choose from and will be allowed to create their own piece as a custom order.  There will also be an option for customers to purchase eco-friendly products that will be made of recyclable materials.

The yearly sales that have been forecasted for Jenilee’s Boutique is around four hundred thousand dollars ($400,000), making a yearly profit of two hundred and seventy-five thousand dollars ($275,000).  The profit will then be used to fund marketing and advertising projects, as well as bring in product from the two outside vendors, Pandora and Fire Mountain Gems and Beads.

In order for Jenilee’s Boutique to become a reality, an estimated amount of seven hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars ($725,000) is being asked for the initial funding.  There has already been fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) put towards the funding of the business, and six hundred and eighty-five thousand dollars ($685,000) is the remaining balance that will be paid by Guerra Investors.  The funding will be used to rent a property, hire a financial and legal consultant, purchase equipment and tools, fund marketing and advertising projects, and bring in product from the vendors.

The amount being invested into Jenilee’s Boutique will be paid back with an interest rate of twenty-five percent (25%), making the total amount due back to Guerra Investors eight hundred and fifty-six thousand two hundred and fifty dollars ($856,250).  This amount will be paid off within a seventy-two (72) month timeframe.

I would like to meet with you next week to further discuss Jenilee’s Boutique.  Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or concerns at my office (210) 312-3000 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., or by e-mail jenileesboutique@yahoo.com.  Thank you.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Ramirez
